Airedale International - Hat Trick of Award Nominations for British Cooling Manufacturer, Airedale International

Air Conditioning - IT Cooling - Air Handling - Ventilation Systems

Airedale Vodacom modular data centre

Having already picked up two awards so far this year, specialist cooling manufacturer Airedale International has been nominated for three separate product ranges across four categories in the 2014 RAC Cooling Industry Awards, now in its tenth year.

The SmartCool™ dedicated chilled water precision air conditioning (PAC) system, which recently won ‘Datacentre Energy Efficiency Product of the Year’ and ‘Commercial Building Services Product of the Year’ in the Data Centre Solutions (DCS) and H&V News awards respectively, is shortlisted for this year’s RAC ‘Air Conditioning Product of the Year’ and the ‘Data Centre Cooling Impact’ award.

Developed to meet demand for a high performance, ultra energy-efficient, dedicated chilled water PAC system, the SmartCool™ CW SD/SN/SR (11-233kW) delivers up to 30% more cooling kW/m² when compared with competitor units, keeping footprint to a minimum to free up valuable space for IT equipment.

Also shortlisted in the ‘Innovation’ and ‘Product’ of the year categories is Airedale’s TurboChill™ air cooled (TCC) and TurboChill™ FreeCool (TCF) chiller (200-1360kW), the first BSI approved production range of high performance chillers using the low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R1234ze on the market. The combination of the centrifugal compressor part-load efficiency, modulated control and potential for concurrent free-cooling, with the addition of low GWP, hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) based refrigerant R1234ze, makes the TurboChill™ a highly sustainable cooling alternative.

In a hat trick, Airedale is also nominated for ‘International Achievement of the Year’ and ‘Data Centre Cooling Impact’ for its modular data centre cooling solution developed for pan African telecoms giant, Vodacom Pty Ltd. A joint collaboration between Airedale’s UK and Johannesburg engineering and manufacturing teams, the highly engineered modular data centre delivers significant energy-saving free-cooling opportunities in the challenging heat and humidity of Southern Africa.

Managing Director, Clive Parkman, said: “We have a great team of people committed to innovation and quality. Our cooling systems are in use in more than 60 countries around the world. The vote of confidence by being associated with major industry accolades like the RAC Cooling Industry awards is a great motivator for our people and provides independent validation for customers who put their faith in our products”.
