Lighting specialist Artemide announces its presence in three exciting initiatives throughout London during this year’s Design Festival:

1. Contemporary Masters’ pieces and Outdoor & Architectural Novelties – Artemide London showroom – 106 Great Russell Street

Artemide’s London showroom – located in a grade II listed building that was once the home of early 19th Century architect Augustus Charles Pugin – will play host to Contemporary Masterpiece, an installation featuring the most recent products developed by the leading lighting manufacturer. The installation will include state-of-the -art lighting solutions, which provide the perfect answer for projects across residential and architectural; the display will also include, for the first time in London, an outdoor selection, displayed in the courtyard of the historical Great Russell street’s store.

Artemide’s ongoing association with leading names in the world of architecture continues, and is well represented by products on display by David Chipperfield (Conica), Carlotta de Bevilacqua (Incalmo, Incipit), Michele de Lucchi (Ambrosia), Herzog & de Meuron (Unterlinden), Ross Lovegrove (Space Cloud, Mercury), Jean Nouvel (Objective, Equilibrist), and Zaha Hadid (Genesy).

A new, LED version of two iconic lights created by design visionary Ettore Sottsass for Artemide, Callimaco (1982) and Pausania (1983) will also be on show. Contemporary Masterpiece will be part of ‘Interni60’, a programme organised by the leading Italian design publication Interni to celebrate its 60th anniversary, featuring a series of design conversations in key design stores throughout London.

• Dates: 13 – 21 September 2014
• Visiting: Monday – Saturday 9.00 – 17.00 (closed 1pm – 1.30pm)

2. Artemide and Elliot Erwitt ‘A Tribute To Light’ at the Italian Consulate

Artemide have partnered with the Italian Consulate to present A Tribute to Light, an exhibition combining photography and lighting products, that will take over the street level windows of their building in Farringdon street.

Consisting of a body of photographs by world-famous photographer Elliot Erwitt, portraying leading architects who have collaborated with Artemide, alongside a selection of lighting best sellers and iconic products, A Tribute To Light is a powerful homage to Artemide’s culture and philosophy of light, at the core of the Italian brand’s manufacturing process for over 50 years.

Products such as Objectives by Jean Nouvel; Mercury and New Nature, by Ross Lovegrove; Empatia and Copernico by Carlotta de Bevilacqua; Ilio, by Ernesto Gismondi; Genesy, by Zaha Hadid Architects; and Pirce, by Giuseppe Scutella’, just to name a few, will illuminate the ground floor installation throughout the autumn, accompanied by striking photographic portraits of their creators, captured by the expert lens of Elliot Erwitt.

• Visiting: Saturday 13th and Saturday 20th September – 10am-1pm

3. Artemide at Design Junction

Artemide is delighted to confirm its presence at Design Junction, with a selection of innovative products including Carlotta de Bevilacqua’s Algoritmo System, Giuseppe Scutella’s Pirce, in new colour finishes and LED versions, and Ernesto Gismondi’s Ilio – all displayed at the show’s dedicated area Lighting Junction. Experts in combining traditional techniques with the latest lighting technologies, Artemide will also present Empatia by Carlotta de Bevilacqua & Paola di Arianello – winner of a Wallpaper* design award 2014 for “Best Transparency” – which incorporates hand-blown Murano glass and LED lighting; and Meteorite, by Pio & Tito Toso, which is too hand-blown in Artemide’s factory in Venice, and then cold pressed by an external mould to leave a delicate pattern imprinted on its glass surface.

Returning to the Sorting Office, on New Oxford street, for its fourth edition, Design Junction has firmly established itself as one of the leading destinations for contemporary interior design and culture, with shows in London, Milan and New York. This year, Lighting Junction – a platform presenting world-class brands in the lighting industry – will be located in the building’s basement, which will offer a dramatic industrial backdrop for this much loved section of the show.
